NEET 2023 Cutoff Marks - State-wise Counselling Procedure

National Testing Agency wrapped up the national level entrance examinations recently. Several medical, dental and allied course aspirants have appeared for the National level tests. The students who wish to pursue under-graduate studies will be shortlisted on the basis of NEET cut off 2023. The NEET 2023 cut-off is a qualifying percentile which a candidate must score to meet the minimum requirements of the institutions. The final cut-off and percentile will be out on the official website once the results are released.

The reservation of seats in all government medical college under the 15% All India Quota is as follows:

1. 15% of seats are reserved for the scheduled caste(SC) students
2. 7.5% of seats are reserved for the students belonging to the scheduled tribe(ST)
3. According to a central act, the seats for OBC students are reserved in central institutions. 27% of the seats are reserved for the OBC community
4. 3% seats are reserved for physically handicapped students

CBSE has decided to reduce the syllabus from Class IX to XII and this could also have an impact on the syllabus of NEET 2021. However, for those who are in class 11 or 12, their focus should be Exam Preparation. NEET syllabus is divided into four subjects - Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. In accordance with previous year NEET statistics, out of 14,10,755 test-takers, only 7,97,042 candidates managed to qualify the exam by securing equal to or more than NEET cutoff qualifying percentile. As per last year, unreserved category aspirants had to secure at least NEET pass mark range of 701-134, in order to get equal to the 50th percentile. According to NEET  reservation criteria, candidates belonging to reserved categories had to secure marks range of 133-107.

The conducting authority will determine the NEET cut off for MBBS and BDS to shortlist the candidates for admission to 80,055 MBBS, 525 BVSc & AH, 26,949 BDS, and other AYUSH courses offered by government and private colleges of India. Based on the minimum qualifying percentile of the NEET 2023 exam, the merit list will be prepared By Medical Counselling Committees (MCC) for admission to 15% AIQ, deemed/central universities, AFMS & ESIC institutes. NEET 2023 cut off - percentile vs marks

As per the official brochure, the NEET cutoff percentile (minimum qualifying marks for NEET 2023) provides the performance comparison of a candidate among others and gives aspirants an idea of how much marks required for NEET. This means that NEET 2023 cutoff percentile will be determined on the basis of the highest marks obtained in the merit list for admission to MBBS/BDS courses. For instance, the NEET pass mark 2023 percentile for the general category implies that students are required to score more than 50% of applicants from the same category.

Aforementioned, to qualify NEET 2023 exam, medicos are required to secure NEET qualifying marks 2023 as specified by the authority. NEET cut off percentile varies for different categories. General category candidates must secure at least the 50th percentile, while for aspirants belonging to the reserved category have to secure the 40th percentile to pass the test. NEET 2023 cutoff: tie-breaking process

In case, if two or more candidates have secured equal NEET cut off qualifying scores, the authority will use the tie-breaking criteria to prepare NEET merit list 2023. The below-mentioned steps in order of preference will be followed to break the tie:

• Higher marks in Biology: Aspirants securing higher scores/percentile in Biology (Botany and Zoology) will be preferred first for the merit list.

• Higher marks in Chemistry: If the tie still exists, then the higher marks/percentile of the candidate in Chemistry will be considered.

• The number of incorrect answers: If the tie is still there, students with less number of incorrect and correct attempted answers will be allotted better rank.

• Age: At last, the age of a candidate will be taken into consideration. An aspirant elder in age will be given higher rank in the merit list.

NEET result in 2023

National Testing Agency (NTA) will announce the result in form of a scorecard. Aspirants can check their NTA NEET 2023 result by clicking on the link, which will be provided above on this page when declared. In order to download NEET 2023 result, aspirants need to enter their NEET roll number, date of birth and security pin. The result-cum-scorecard of NEET 2023 will mention the name, date of birth, the application number, total as well as subject-wise marks obtained and NEET All India Rank (AIR). Also, the result will display NEET cutoff 2023 and qualifying status.

NEET counselling 2023

On the basis of AIR, the exam conducting authority will prepare NEET merit list 2023 indicating the rank-wise names of candidates who have qualified the exam. The merit list will be forwarded to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on behalf of Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for conducting NEET 2023 counselling for 15% AIQ, seats in deemed/central universities, ESIC, AFMS and central pool seats.

While the remaining 85% state quota seats in government colleges will be allotted by respective state counselling authorities based on the scores and rank secured in NEET 2023 examination. The state counselling body will also be responsible for granting admission to private medical/dental colleges located in a particular state.

NEET counselling procedure

The counselling of NEET is conducted tentatively within one week of the declaration of the NEET Result. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), on behalf of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), is the body responsible for conducting the counselling for NEET 15% All India Quota seats, as well as for seats in Deemed and Central Universities.

NEET Counselling is conducted online in two rounds only for all those candidates who qualify for admissions in government medical and dental colleges across India. States will conduct separate two-round counselling process for admission to state quota seats in both government and private institutions. In order to participate in NEET Counselling, qualified candidates will have to first register themselves for the counselling process during the stipulated period.

Candidates who will qualify for 15% all India quota seats can directly appear for the procedure of NEET counselling.

Candidates will be required to take along with them their set of original documents when appearing for NEET Counselling. In case a candidate is unable to produce original documents they won't be allowed to take admission in any MBBS or Dental college through NEET.
